As a result of administrative reform, the tomaszowski administrative district came into being on 1 January 1999. The seat of district powers, Tomaszów Mazowiecki. Besides this city there are 10 towns in the district: Będków, Budziszewice, Czerniewice, Inowłódz, Lubochnia, Rokiciny, Rzeczyca, gmina Tomaszów, Ujazd, Żelechlinek.
